Alanya contra Antalya Print Email

Antalya is one of the largest cities of Turkey and a huge tourist center on the Mediterranean coast. In 2010 the population exceeded a million and the city continues to expand rapidly, becoming a giant metropolis mainly living from tourism, trade and agriculture / horticulture on the fertile land between the sea and the Taurus Mountains, where the mild climate allows for 2-3 harvests every year. Tourists landing during the day at the airport in Antalya (biggest in the country, can take 35 000 000 million passengers yearly), having the opportunity to see the area from the air comment mostly on the great amount of white horticulture tunnels spreading from the city limits to the slopes of the mountains, and only later on the impressive line of the coastal hotel resorts. Living in Antalya will let you experience all the pros and cons of living in a big city such as the fast pace of life, crowds on the streets, in the buses and trams, but also plenty of activities and a wide cultural program.

Alanya is still 'small' in comparison with the Antalya – it has ‘only’ about 100,000 inhabitants. Approximately 10 000 are foreigners, drawn of course by the natural beauty of the place and it’s mild climate, but also by the optimal conditions of living here - Alanya is small enough not to feel overwhelmed a big city and yet large enough not to feel like living in the province . There's something for everyone - life in Alanya offers a unique cultural mix – an example of successful integration of foreigners in the Turkish environment, part of it the result of conscious policy of the city authorities but also mentality of local people - extremely curious and open to what is new and different (especially- although not necessarily - if it is associated with a stream of euro :)
